I have 6 minutes

I promised myself some time away from the computer for my notebook, so here goes my scrambled thoughts in 5 minutes.

  • The other day, I was in a taxi and the taxi driver from Bangladesh was eager to learn English. I admire his effort and I wish him the best. He asked my friend and I what ‘penalize’ meant. I wonder what he was reading?
  • I really like walking down Palmerston street. The houses are so lovely. Downtown Toronto houses maybe not have large front yards, but they have patios!
  • Twine is what I need for my upcoming project.
  • 2 minutes left, dah. Proof-reading time
  • I watched this French film last night. I’m recommending it! Il y a longtemps que je t’aime

Letter to Subway Riders

Dear Subway riders,

Please do not try to push your way into an already packed subway car. “Wait for the next train”, as the lady in the speakers says. If you find that you absolutely need to get on this train, at least try to smell nice? People don’t usually like smelly people when they are only approximately 5cm away from them. Thank you.

Sincerely,

31km

Features in Finder that could be useful

1) A separator within a folder (like a dotted line)
-It could separate files within a folder without making subfolders.

2) Apple-G grouping selected files together (like Photoshop layers)
-Would be extremely useful as I organize things in bulk usually. Instead of copy and pasting files, I could just press Apple-G, and voila all files are in a folder. so easy!

Agree? Disagree? Items to add?

Workflow from A to B

Lately I’ve been increasingly interested in learning about people’s work-flows. I’ve been chatting with this new co-worker of mine who is also a WPA and exchanging information on how we produce work from point A to B. In turn I find that I become more efficient with the stuff that I do. Information exchange is great!

Where are the plugs?

Coming back from Vancouver, I dearly missed the cafes on the Drive. The coffee’s good and everyone’s really laidback here. Every cafe has free wireless (something lacking in Toronto cafes), but they all lack one thing – plugs!

I’m at this cafe called Prado and the entire cafe has only ONE plug. It doesn’t even have an extension bar, which is rather unfortunate. It’s got everything else though that a cool cafe would have: good music, decent coffee, large windows, old hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, chipped white paint on door frames. I suppose with the lack of plugs, it forces people to do analogue things like chat, read or study. Alternatively, people who make use of their free wireless would need to have a laptop that is decently charged or doesn’t require a power adapter plugged in at all times :P .

I don’t mind doing analogue things…there are lots of things in my head that I’ve been too lazy to write down during this trip. Power off.
